ABC WEBSITE IS TO BE RELAUNCHED.

Meetings

Our meetings are held at the lawn community centre in Windsor road, Although our meetings are held on the 1st floor there is a fully functional lift available.

Our meetings are held lunchtimes 12 – 2pm on the 1st Wednesday of every month and afternoon meetings 2 – 4pm on the third Monday of the month throughout 2011. Come and join us for a chat, maybe even have a taster reflexology session - one of our members is a qualified reflexologist.

We offer support through our meetings, but we also have facilities to enable individuals to talk in smaller groups or on a one-to-one basis.

We have a Men’s Section which has been running since February 2010.  They meet monthly on 4th Thursday in Room 2 upstairs at the LCC (lift available if required) – see dates and times on the Men’s Cancer Section.

We also now have a Ladies only section on the third Thursday of the month at LCC from 7.00 - 9.30 pm

We work with other support groups, the local community, healthcare professionals and national organisations. We also invite speakers who give talks for example, on complementary therapies, music, benefits, healthy eating, flower arranging and other interests expressed by members.

See our dates for details of the next meeting.

"Sainsburys at Stratton are proud to have abc as their charity
of the year from May 2010 to May 2011. Already we have raised awareness of the charity and over the next year we hope to raise awareness of the charity in store and on various events" (James Pembridge and Trish Carter).

January 2011:

Over the past 6 months we have been amazed at the support from our
colleagues and customers and their generosity has been overwhelming. We
set ourselves what we thought was a very ambitious target for the year May 2010 to May 2011 - however we have recently smashed this target. We are continuing with exciting events until May 2011 to further raise awareness and funds for this amazing charity.

We feel the partnership  has been a huge success in raising awareness
of the charity and we're sure you will agree that everybody has, in fact,
been affected by cancer at some stage in their lives, be it friends,
relatives or even colleagues.

Long may this great partnership with this amazing charity and its members
continue and grow.
(James Pembridge and Trish Carter)

The 'Flower arranging Ladies' on Valentines Weekend did a superb job and
raised a total of £633 for abc. Cheers Ladies

Eleven Sainsbury's colleagues took part in a sponsored bungee jump on
Saturday 30th April - well done to them all and many thanks for their efforts on
behalf of abc members. They raised £800 for our Group. Thanks.

23rd May 2011: A Brief update from abc

Sainsbury's gave us a year-end Presentation Party at Legends Lounge, Swindon Town Football Club on Sunday evening 22nd May 2011. This event was very well attended, Refreshments laid on, a special cake
made by James' Mum and Gran- delicious, and a disco run by one of
Sainsburys colleagues. There were raffle prizes too.  Margaret (an abc
member as well as a Sainsbury's colleague) briefly spoke movingly on how abc has been a help to her over the past few months.

James and Tricia hosted the evening for Sainsbury's with Tony Pocock on behalf of abc.  An excellent evening and a very fitting celebration of the year-long hard work,
commitment and dedication put in by Sainsbury's colleagues and abc members alike, with the icing on the cake of a cheque being presented to abc by James and Tricia for a fabulous sum of £12,000.01

To all of you guys and gals at Sainsburys Stratton Store - a huge, huge 'Thank You'.
